Back to the Root, 2010

This most recent work is a significant revelation in the history of Afro-Dominican and Afro-Haitian music. The African-rooted drum rhythms constitute the heartbeat of each song, intended to remind listeners where the unique religious and social traditions of Haiti and the Dominican Republic were born. The project is a fusion of the region’s traditional rhythms with other genres of music found within the African diaspora.
